Nowadays, plastics are everywhere. Not only in our things of daily usage, they are present even in our food, waterbodies, soil, rain and not to mention the clouds. Yes, you heard that right. Due to our negligence, plastics are now securing their places in clouds because of which our environment is getting hampered. Scientists have collected a number of water samples from clouds that show the presence of at least 70 particles of micro plastics which could harm the environment.
Micro plastics are the tiny chunks of less than five millimeters of long pieces of plastics and microfibers of clothes that get caught in the atmosphere and create trouble for the living. Researchers have found that in low altitude and in denser clouds micro plastics are mainly present. The airflow, coming from the highly populated cities or towns, carry more amount of micro plastics that get stored in the cloudsand these particles are mainly made up of common polymers. This manmade crisis can affect our health, lifestyle and mostly the weather.
Though more researches are needed to fully understand how the micro plastics could hamper the weather, yet it is primarily clear that these particles could affect the process of cloud formation and if cloud formation gets disturbed, the formation of rain will get disbalanced too. Further studies are required to get a clear view. It is hoped that situation must not get worsened.
